BS 8233:2014 – Guidance on Sound Insulation and Noise Reduction for Buildings
BS 8233:2014 came into effect in February of this year, replacing the 1999 document. Local planning authorities reference BS 8233 in assessing noise levels affecting a site in terms of the required building envelope, external glazing and ventilation strategies.
NPPG was issued earlier this year, its purpose being to provide more detailed guidance than is contained in the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) of 2012, which replaced PPG24 ‘Planning and Noise’.
